1) Four years ago I was fed up with working for corporations. I had decided I had given the best years of my life to companies that frankly didn't give a damn what happened to me as long as I showed up and did my job while saving them as much money as possible. I was pouring every bit of myself into my employer for a piece of paper that at the end of the week barely covered living expenses for my large family. At that time I began deeply debating how could I pull all of my experience and passion into a career that would allow inner peace and also be rewarding financially. With children and a household to run is that even possible?
After months of debating, I decided to pursue an old dream of becoming a real estate agent. I researched, planned, and took advantage of a program through my church that gave 10 people a free Life Coach for 8 weeks. I used that time to take the required on-line classes for my real estate license, study, and pass the state test. I felt so accomplished but clueless at the same time! I knew I needed a broker in order to use my license but there were so many choices. There are so many different options and I was so overwhelmed with information that I had no idea how to apply in order to help anyone or make a commission.
I began making appointments with Brokers and asking all the questions that the Internet told me to ask. I called every friend that I had that had anything to do with real estate and I gathered as much information as possible. I realized finding a Broker that wanted me was going to be easy. They all wanted me! So why not for once in my life, find what I wanted? And by a stroke of very good luck, my husband mentioned the fact that I was looking for a Broker to The Perfect Broker and he sent a little note home with my husband from work just for me. The note said, "Give me a call and I will teach you to become become a Bad-Ass Negotiator." Who can resist that right? All jokes aside, he really is a "Bad-Ass Negotiator"! After two years of depending on him almost weekly, sometimes daily, he has without any hesitation taught me a lot of Bad-Ass Negotiation Skills. His negotiation ideas are genius and amazingly innovative.
We must have spent an hour on the phone the first day I gave him a call. I wanted to be sure before I agreed to meet him that I wasn't going to waste his time because I knew that I was not willing to be involved in a Brokerage that ran things big corporation style. That's the whole reason I started this journey in the first place right? I wanted to make sure Randy had no expectations of me attending mandatory meetings or serving time in an office. Being a new agent I would need training and someone to hold my hand for a little while but I needed it to be when I could do it because I was going to put my family and clients first. Randy understood my desires to run my business, and knew I could learn how to become an awesome agent and earn great money at the same time. I decided to give our relationship a shot!
Randy began feeding me information and ideas. He offered me interesting and fun training and even spent many evenings training me over the phone for hours. He encouraged me and gave me advice on marketing. He connected me with the best vendors to run my business efficiently and on a budget. From day one, no question was a dumb question, and no time was a bad time to ask. Two years later, his patience with me is astonishing. I have talked to him three times today! His character is unwavering.
Sure, this all sounds great but let's be honest, we work to earn money right? To this day, I have never heard of a more attractive commission split than what he offers his agents. Honestly, anyone I have ever shared my commission split information with has not either. Randy is honest and generous and full of integrity. I hear a lot of unfortunate, underhanded, and down right dirty things that some other Brokers do to their agents. I feel so grateful, lucky, and genuinely blessed to have gotten that little note sent home with my husband that day. To be 100% at ease trusting your Broker and earning a commission that you get to keep most of is blissful. These two years have flown by and the big corporation anxiety has shed off one layer at a time. With Randy's help I have built a successful business that allows me to put my family and clients first without putting myself last. For this I am deeply grateful!
2) I recently got my real estate license again in the spring of 2015. I was a realtor in the Washington DC area from 2005-2007 before moving back to Texas. I worked for an extremely large Real Estate company thinking that name recognition would help make me successful.
